 |
WIC, the Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and
Children, provides at no cost, specific nutritious supplemental foods and
nutrition education to pregnant and breastfeeding women, postpartum
women, infants and children up to age 5. To qualify for WIC, clients must
meet certain income guidelines and complete a nutrition assessment form.
During the WIC visit a height, weight and hemoglobin check will be done.
We provide nutritional food instruments (checks) for milk, juice, eggs,
cereal, peanut butter, whole grain foods, fruits, vegetables, and formula
(upon request) etc. that can be redeemed at the grocery store.
It is held from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Audrain City-
County Health Unit in Mexico, MO and from 9:20 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in
Vandalia, MO on the 2nd Thursday by appointments only. Call Audrain
City-County Health Unit at 573-581-1332 for appointment.
All women, infants, and children applying or re-applying for WIC must
come to the appointment and show proof of identity, residence, and
income for all members of applicant's household. If you do not bring this
information, you may be given a new appointment.

- Proof of Identity - Bring a current, valid photo ID such as a
driver's license, work/school ID card, military card, or passport.
Also, bring proof of identity when participants, guardians or proxies
are picking up checks. For infants and children, bring shot record
or birth certificate. - Proof of Residence - Bring the most recent water bill, phone bill,
cable bill, gas bill, electricity bill, monthly rent payment, a letter from
DFS regarding Medicaid or food stamps, or mortgage payment. - Proof of Income - Bring the most recent employment /
unemployment pay stubs, DFS benefits award letter. If self-
employed bring in a copy of federal tax form submitted. All items
that apply need to be provided for all members of applicant's
